Lee is the managing partner of Tieman, Spencer & Hicks and oversees the firm’s business and contractual practices. The never-ending desire to work with exemplary people in order to provide the best possible services to our clients is what motivated Lee to assemble this talented group of attorneys and support staff. Over the past 25+ years, Lee has represented a diverse range of business clients, ranging from multi-national conglomerates to family-owned businesses. Serving as primary general counsel to the majority of his business clients, Lee regularly provides practical legal representation informally in the conference room as well as formal litigation in the courtroom. The experience of having tried numerous jury and bench cases, not only in Northwest Missouri but throughout the United States, gives Lee a unique perspective in developing “common sense” and financially responsible courses of action for his clientele. This tried-and-true approach is self-evident by the fact that Lee’s practice is almost exclusively filled with long-standing, repeat clients.

Married to Erin (nee Coffey) Tieman for 23 years, they have three children together, Joe, Kristen, and Michael. The Tieman family are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where Lee has served as Chairman of the Board of Elders, as an usher, on the Athletic Committee, and on the Pastoral Search Committee. Lee also gives back to the community through annual membership in the Crystal Circle of the United Way of Greater St. Joseph, as well as having served as the Chairman of the Attorney’s Division of the Annual Fundraising Campaign. Lee has been a long-standing member of the PTSA at Coleman Elementary School, Bode Middle School, and Central High School, as well as the CHS Booster Club and PTO with the St. Joseph School District’s Gifted and Academically Talented Education (GATE) programs.
In the fall of 2018, Lee was appointed by Governor Parsons, and confirmed by the Missouri Senate, to the Board of Governors at Missouri Western State University. An avid supporter of MWSU, Lee is an annual member of the Gold Coat Club that sponsors Griffon athletics. Also loyal to his alma mater, Lee is a member of the Mizzou Alumni Association and has served as both President and Treasurer of the Buchanan County Chapter. An avid sports enthusiast, Lee coached his children’s baseball and basketball teams throughout their youth.
