Married to Erin (nee Coffey) Tieman for 23 years, they have three children together, Joe, Kristen, and Michael. The Tieman family are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where Lee has served as Chairman of the Board of Elders, as an usher, on the Athletic Committee, and on the Pastoral Search Committee. Lee also gives back to the community through annual membership in the Crystal Circle of the United Way of Greater St. Joseph, as well as having served as the Chairman of the Attorney’s Division of the Annual Fundraising Campaign. Lee has been a long-standing member of the PTSA at Coleman Elementary School, Bode Middle School, and Central High School, as well as the CHS Booster Club and PTO with the St. Joseph School District’s Gifted and Academically Talented Education (GATE) programs.
In the fall of 2018, Lee was appointed by Governor Parsons, and confirmed by the Missouri Senate, to the Board of Governors at Missouri Western State University. An avid supporter of MWSU, Lee is an annual member of the Gold Coat Club that sponsors Griffon athletics. Also loyal to his alma mater, Lee is a member of the Mizzou Alumni Association and has served as both President and Treasurer of the Buchanan County Chapter. An avid sports enthusiast, Lee coached his children’s baseball and basketball teams throughout their youth.
